Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides students with the skills and knowledge to perform effectively in the workplace. At Leeming ESC, students commence their training for the workplace from Year 7 onwards.

ASDAN Workright

Yr 10

The focus for this unit involves training and assessment in a real workplace, providing Year 10 students with supervised learning activities. It encourages students to experience and explore diverse employment options while gaining valuable experience. All students in Year 10, must complete ASDAN Workright as a prerequisite for entry into Authority Developed Workplace Learning (ADWPL) in Year 11.
 

Authority Developed Workplace Learning (ADWPL)

Yrs 11 – 12

The Workplace Learning endorsed program provides an opportunity for a student to demonstrate, and develop increasing competence to participate successfully in the workplace for future employment. To complete this program, a student is required to participate in work experience to develop a set of transferable workplace skills. The student must also provide evidence of his/her knowledge and understanding of the workplace skills by completing the Authority’s Workplace Learning Skills Journal after each 55 hours completed in the workplace.
School Based Traineeships (SBT)

Yrs 11 – 12

SBTs vary annually depending on availability. Students undertaking a SBT spend 1 day per week in the workplace, in conjunction with theory days off site, and home work as defined by the Registered Training Organisation to meet competency to achieve at Certificate II level.

To qualify for an SBT, students need to meet language, literacy and numeracy standards as defined by the Registered Training Organisation, have exemplary attendance records,  be committed to completed all assigned theory and have a strong passion to pursue a career path in the selected industry.

Certificate Courses

Yrs 10 – 12

Vocational Education and Training (VET), partners with industry to provide students with workplace skills and knowledge to perform effectively in a chosen career. VET qualifications include Nationally Recognised Certificate Courses, which are endorsed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority.

Certificate course vary annually depending on availability, and may be delivered at school or through a TAFE or training organisation off site. Students wishing to undertake a Certificate course, need to meet language, literacy and numeracy standards as defined by the Registered Training Organisation with exemplary attendance records, and the willingness to complete written theory outside of school.
