New Horizons, Transition Challenge & Key Steps ADSAN Programs

ASDAN is a curriculum development organisation and an internationally recognised awarding body, which grew out of research work at the University of the West of England in the 1980s. ASDAN offers a wide range of curriculum programmes and qualifications for all abilities, mainly in the 11-25 age groups. ASDAN programs and qualifications blend activity-based curriculum enrichment with a framework for the development, assessment and accreditation of key skills and other personal and social skills, with emphasis on negotiation, cooperation and rewarding achievement.
Leeming SHS ESC offers the following ASDAN programmes to students in years 7 to 9;

  1. Key Steps – Key Steps is a comprehensive programme of activities in a range of topic areas covering Citizenship, Physical and Health Education, Environment Education, Personal Finance Education, Enterprise and Internationalism. The flexibility and range of Key Steps means that it can be followed for up to three years or for less than one year. The activities are aimed at students aged between 10 and 14 years. They are presented in the form of personal challenges and encourage students to develop their personal skills and take responsibility for their own learning.
  2. Transition Challenge – A learner-centred, activity-based curriculum that can be undertaken with as much support as necessary
