On Monday 12th of August the sun was shining for our Pop up Shops community event. Students have been working hard all year on their Business Enterprise projects, the quality of creative products on sale was outstanding.

This year was bigger and better than ever, with students from West Leeming Primary School and clients from Bethanie Aged Care attending. Yaz Mubarakai MLA, WA Labor Member for Jandakot also attended and made sure he bought an item from every stand! The atmosphere of the day was buzzing with excitement and students enjoyed engaging with the community and extending their learning outside the classroom. We have some very good sales people among our students, majority of products were sold, raising important donations to the chosen charity for each class. Next term students will have the opportunity to continue their creative talents and sell their products at the ESSN Market Day on Friday 1st November. This is a community event for all the Education Support Centres and Schools in the South Metropolitan Region. All families are welcome to attend and further information will be sent home closer to the date.

have recently been involved in IEP and My Plan planning meetings. These collaborative meetings are very important in setting personal education, social and emotional goals that meet the individual needs of our students. This collaborative approach ensures our students have the full support of school, home and services with a range of resources to achieve their goals. Thank you to everyone involved, your input is valued and appreciated. I have been very impressed with the achievements of our senior students and their exciting plans for the future through the My Plan process. These students are at a very busy stage of the year transitioning into work, further education and disability organisation programs.

Two projects are due to be completed during the next school holidays. Firstly, the Aulberry Parade school car park will be extended to provide an additional fifty new car park bays. As both Leeming SHS and Leeming ESC continue to grow the current car park does not cater for the number of staff and students on campus. The outdoor classroom near the vegetable garden will be converted to a multipurpose classroom to provide additional classroom space in 2020. We have also applied for additional transportable classrooms to accommodate our growing student numbers.

Students have been thoroughly enjoying the after school Athletics and Bush Ranger programs this term. Thank you to the Bush Ranger committee, I have enjoyed learning about the Native Bee Hive project and look forward to seeing the finished product at the ESSN Market Day. A big thank you also to Ms Heard for organising the Athletics program, there is a large group of students joining in every Tuesday afternoon to prepare for the upcoming athletics carnivals this term. Thank you also to all the staff who volunteer their time after school to support these programs for our students.

Music Rocks Australia program started in week one this term. This program provides an opportunity for students to learn to play a musical instrument or sing as part of a band. At the end of the ten-week program there will be a concert for the students involved to showcase their musical skills with family, friends and staff.

As you can see our students are very busy with a range of exciting programs in Term 3!

A reminder Monday 26th August is a School Development Day and students do not attend school on this day.
